Since when has Dr. Sommer been on BRAVO?
Dr. Sommer , who today is synonymous with enlightenment in BRAVO , opened his mail and suggestion box with issue 43 from 1969. BRAVO wrote at the start: "A man of today speaks with BRAVO readers about their worries and problems. He is 37 years old, married, and has two children. He has a profession in which nothing human remains hidden from him. He has already helped many. Starting today, he will also help BRAVO readers. His views on love and enlightenment will astonish you. He knows no false morals."
Previously, the author Marie Louise Fischer (1922–2005), under the pseudonym Dr. Christoph Vollmer, had successfully answered the letters of lovesick young people in her BRAVO column "Fateful Letters to Dr. Vollmer." Under another pseudonym, Dr. Kirstin Lindstroem , Fischer had also contributed to several sex education series in BRAVO and written serialized novels under the alias Katja Holm .
For 15 years until 1984, Dr. Sommer (real name Dr. Martin Goldstein, MD ) answered thousands of letters to the editor about puberty, love, sexuality, and many other adolescent issues in the "What Moves You" section. Starting in 1971, under the name Dr. Alexander Korff , he also authored multi-part sex education series, such as "Love's Hot Questions," "Love Without Fear," "Sex Education for Advanced Students," "What Many Don't Dare to Ask," and more. In 1981, his 140-page love encyclopedia was published in BRAVO magazine , in which he explained in detail all sexual terms, from " abard" to " pimp."
After the collaboration with BRAVO ended, a team of doctors and psychologists took over the letters-to-the-editor department. The name " Dr. Sommer Team " was retained.
